When it comes to Himalayan travel, most everyone naturally thinks of Nepal. From the southern plains, bordering on India, the roads heading north begin their precipitous climb to the towering Himalayas on he border with Tibet. Here, the southern face of the Everest, the world’s tallest mountain, dominates the surrounding Khumbu region, home to the renowned Sherpas. The Everest region is legendary for its amazing trekking experiences, rewarding us as with several exquisitely beautiful Alpine valleys and meadows and Himalayan peaks of dizzying heights.

From the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar to the amazing views of Everest from the 18,000-foot Kala Pattar, a Nepali trekking experience is truly rewarding. Of course, our Nepali trekking tours visit the fantastic and fabled Kathmandu. Here, you can wander the bazaars and historic sites of Nepal’s capital, as well as the beautiful Buddhist stupa at Swayambunath and the thriving Tibetan Buddhist community at Bodnath.

People behind Peak Promotion

Wongchu Sherpa

Founder & CEO

The youngest of 10 children, and orphaned at an early age, Wongchu’s success has been well and truly earned. A veteran of the Nepali Army and the Nepali Police, Wongchu entered the tourism business as a cook and worked his way up to full mountaineering an expedition guide, including successful summit of Everest. With this vast experience, Wongchu knows the hills, mountains, valleys and plains of Nepal like the back of his hand. With the founding of Peak Promotion over two decades ago, Wongchu brings his intimate knowledge of Nepal and full comprehension of what it takes to be a success as a top-notch Ground Operator in Nepal to every tour and expedition that Peak has to offer.

Kame Sherpa

A veteran of several major mountaineering expeditions, Kame’s record on Everest is impressive to say the least. Summiting the world’s highest mountain peak in 1996 with a team from the USA, Kame has now reached the “Top of the World” no less than 14 times – including 3 times in 2012 alone! Kame has also summited multiple times on Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Nunkhun, Baruntse and Kilimanjaro, as well as successful summits of Makalu and Mansalu.

Pemba Sherpa

Pemba has been engaged in and leading trekking expeditions in Nepal since 1996, and has been involved in major mountaineering expeditions since 2001. In 2006, he summited Island Peak with Peak Promotion. In 2007, he made his first summit of Everest; he has now made it to the top of the mighty mountain on 7 occasions. In 2013, Pemba was involved in the first Nepali summit of Mt. Kebnekaise in Sweden.
